Chocolate & Date Dream Smoothie

When you know, you know. Right?!? Well, this one slapped me right around the chops and it was most definitely love at first (taste). I’ve been meaning to create a choccy-lovers dream smoothie for a long time and I think I’ve hit the jackpot!

It’s such a simple recipe and you can make a large batch and keep some back for the next day (or for your afternoons nourishment which is what I’d did). I have been making smoothies for the past 6 years and I am always excited to discover new ingredients and to see how they work alongside other superfoods etc.

This recipe however is as simple as they come yet tasty and nutritious on sooooo many levels! As with all of my blends, I make a base first of frozen banana, coconut nectar, coconut milk and nuts, To these I add all of the other ingredients; fresh fruit, cacao, dried fruit, maca, frozen fruit…..the list is endless!

You’ll need:

2 x bananas (one more ripe than the other if you have it but it’s not totally necessary)

6 x pitted dates

half a cup of frozen cherries

3 x tbsp of raw cacao powder

1 x small handful of almonds

A small squeeze of coconut nectar & coconut milk

A pinch of cinnamon

300ml of water

Ice (essential to make it really thirst-quenching)

Blend until creamy & smooth and try to make last for more than 3 minutes! (I challenge you!)

So, if like me, you LOVE chocolate, then this is the one for you! I’ve also recently discovered that if dates are consumed throughout the final 4 weeks of pregnancy, labour can be a smoother ride! Count me in!!!

Hope you like the recipe and some forget to tag @hollyswholesomekitchen in any of your creations.

All my love and encouragement,

Holly xxx
