I blinkin love this smoothie soooo much!!! I chopped a juicy, ripe pineapple into chunks (froze half of it) and blended the other half with 1 x ripe mango, 1 x banana, a couple of dollops of coconut milk and a good glug of Vitacoco coconut water. I also added some cashew nuts (soaked for a few hours so that they are easier to blend)…Fanny’s your Aunt…..
By adding protein to this gorgeous concoction (in the form of nuts), the rate at which the sugars from the fruit are absorbed into the bloodstream is slowed down thus preventing a sugar-spike.
Pineapple is outrageously jam-packed with vitamin C and antioxidants. Vitamin C is essential for the the immune system and it helps the body to eliminate waste, keeping your colon tip-top and your skin bright and sparkly.
Coconut water is without a doubt the best thing I have ever consumed for keeping my skin clear. Having suffered with various bouts of acne and dermatitis over the years (and trialling every over-the-counter lotion and potion to treat them both), it was only when I began to nourish my body properly and keep all systems firing efficiently that I really began to notice a different.
It gives credence to the saying ‘you are what you eat’…we most definitely are and I endeavour to nourish and fortify my body every day to keep it functioning optimally.
